Since Reality Check is a curated meetup series (not a competitive hackathon), the "rules" here cover participation and conduct rather than submission/judging criteria:
Eligibility & Selection
- This is an invite-first, application-based series. Submitting an application does not guarantee entry attendees and speakers/demo presenters are selected by each city's organizing team based on relevance and demonstrated work.
- Anyone applying to demo or speak should be prepared to show real, working output ideas alone are not sufficient for a speaking/demo slot.
Code of Conduct
- All attendees, speakers, and organizers are expected to treat each other with respect. Harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior of any kind will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the event without refund (where applicable) or future eligibility.
- Reality Check follows the principles of the Hacker/Community Code of Conduct — organizers reserve the right to act on violations at their discretion, including removing an attendee from the venue.
Intellectual Property
- Anything demoed or discussed remains the sole property of the builder/presenter. noClue and Reality Check claim no ownership over any project, product, or idea shared at the event.
Media & Recording
- Reality Check events are professionally photographed and videotaped for official recap content and promotion. By attending, participants consent to being filmed/photographed; anyone who prefers not to appear in published content can inform the organizing team on-site.
No Formal Judging or Prizes
- Reality Check is not a pitch competition or hackathon. There is no scoring, ranking, or prize structure demo sessions are for open discussion and feedback, not competitive judging.
